The Scorpion-Class is an Attack Fighter designed by the Romulans before the destruction of their homeworld in 2389. It is still used by many of the Romulan successor states, often carried onboard D'Ridthau-Class Through-Deck Cruisers.
Appearance[]
The Scorpion-Class craft is a sleek small craft designed to be able to fly in atmospheres. It has a single cockpit which opens up to reveal two seats - one for the pilot, the other for the defense system operator.
Romulan vessels were traditionally painted in different colours to mark which fleet they served in - this tradition continues with the balkanization of the Romulan Star Empire, with several paint-jobs present including green, ivory with purple, purple with green, black with green or red.
Capabilities[]
The main purpose of the Scorpion-class is to offer support to Romulan ground troops, loitering above friendly territory and then making fast diving runs at the enemy's forward areas before rapidly escaping.
It can also serve as a defensive measure for Romulan fleet elements under attack from enemy bombers or pilot escorts, but limited shielding means the craft are very vulnerable to interception by enemy fighters.
